New sales manager
THE Coffs Coast Advocate is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Sleeman in the newly created role of advertising sales manager.
Rick is well known to many in our community through his work in bringing major sporting and entertainment events to Coffs Harbour, including last month's hugely successful Crusty Demons Outback Assault.
Coffs Coast Advocate general manager James Parker said he is delighted to have a local of such high calibre join the company.
"Given its rapid growth over the past few years, and with our centenary approaching in 2007, The Advocate needs an experienced management team to take the paper forward," Mr Parker said.
"We have some exciting plans for 2006-07, and will no doubt meet plenty of competitive challenges as well.
"Rick's appointment will ensure we have the skills and experience to ensure our growth during this exciting period."
Rick already has newspaper ink running through his veins, having worked for the Advocate as features manager from 1986 to 1990.
After further management roles within our parent company, APN News and Media, he joined FPC Magazines in 1997 as national sales director, playing an important role in its evolution to one of Australia's major magazine publishers.
Rick then spent four years as director of rugby at sports marketing company IMG before returning to Coffs Harbour in July, 2003, as managing director of his own company, Sports Marketing Australia.
"I have experienced some heady times during the past 15 years, but I've never lost my passion for print media," Rick said.
"I look forward to working with the team of professionals at The Advocate, and to adding my energies to what is shaping up to be an exciting 2006."
Rick will commence with The Advocate in February, 2006, following the sale of Sports Marketing Australia and completion of his other commitments.
