New charges pending on Bowraville death

PROCEEDINGS have begun against a 39-year-old man over the death of a four-year-old girl at Bowraville 14 years ago.

Following evidence gathered by Homicide Squad detectives from Strike Force ANCUD and from a review conducted of material presented to the NSW Coroner, the Director of Public Prosecutions has decided to begin proceedings by way of ex-officio indictment against the man for the charge of murder in relation to the four year old girl.

The remains of the child, who lived at the Bowraville Aboriginal Mission, were found in bushland on the outskirts of Bowraville in 1991.

No date or location has been set for the trial.
