Monkey on their back

Sawtell/Toormina v North Coffs

Seniors 2:30pm, Reserves 1:15pm, Under 18's 11:30am

SAWTELL have the opportunity tomorrow to get a massive monkey off their back.

The Saints will be trying to defeat North Coffs for the first time since 1998.

That year was the last time that Sawtell made the Grade Final and it was the last time that North Coffs weren't in the premiership decider.

To add further spice to tomorrow's match of the day, it is also the first time that the Saints and 'Roos will meet since the entire Matthews clan moved over to the Saints, having been such an integral part of the North Coffs club since the family relocated to the area at the start of 2002.

Last week Sawtell lost their first game for the year and didn't particularly look like a team that was premiership bound.

A loss tomorrow and suddenly the double chance spot that Sawtell appeared to have a mortgage on could well be in grave danger.

Meanwhile North Coffs appear to be building up nicely as the quiet achievers of the season.

The inclusion of Darren Funston has no doubt improved the Kangaroos but the forward line should be chock full of scoring options tomorrow as Jason Mayer and John Henry return.

Conditions are predicted to be windy and wet tomorrow and this might just be an advantage to the more mature bodies of North Coffs.

Playing personnel returning to the Saints tomorrow is a certainty after grumblings were heard during the week that the midday start last week inconvenienced them.

The Saints could start at midday tomorrow but this still won't get them the points.

TIP: North Coffs by 27 points.
