Medals galore for Woopi athletes

By BRAD GREENSHIELDS

WOOLGOOLGA High students Nicole and Jordan Gusman and Caitlin Steuart all had a trip to Sydney to remember thanks to their athletic pursuits which saw all three bring home medals from the CHS State Championships.

Steuart produced two personal bests at Homebush and came close to breaking the one minute barrier when she won a silver medal in the 400 metres for under 15s.

She ran a 60.08 for the lap as well as a PB 26.08 in a heat for the 200 metres before finishing fourth in the final.

The Gusman family had a golden meet.

Nicole streeted the field in the high jump for under 12s when she jumped an impressive 1.58m.

This height was a whole 8cm better than the silver medallist.

Brother Jordan won a gold medal when he ran the 800 metres in a time of 2:11.75 in the under 13 final.

As there was no mile event in his age group, Jordan competed in the under 14 final for the 1500m and managed to finish ninth.
