Married and behind bars

PEOPLE often joke that getting married is a lifetime jail sentence and it appears one Coffs Harbour bride decided to serve her time a little earlier than most.

Married on Saturday to Gavin at the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden, Kellie left her bridal party after taking her vows to quickly use the public toilets.

But, to her surprise, when she went to leave the garden volunteers had locked up and Kellie was left alone and stranded.

The groom, bridesmaids and wedding photographer were standing on the other side of the gate when Kellie appeared but her day was not about to be ruined.

In a mad rush members of the wedding party came to the rescue by jumping in a bridal car and chasing down the garden's volunteer who came back and set Kellie free.

Despite the commotion and obvious stress of the day wedding photographer Kelly Flemming said the bride saw the funny side of the incident.

The couple enjoyed a beautiful reception at the Coffs Harbour Surf Club where everything went smoothly.
