Marine crime officer at Expo

A SPECIAL visitor will meet and greet at this weekend's Coffs Coast Marine and Outdoor Living Expo.

Senior Constable Fran Batten is the first NSW Police marine crime prevention officer appointed to the Marine Area Command which oversees the water police.

She will be in Coffs to give anglers and boat owners advice on how to reduce crime and increase boat safety.

"I'm looking forward to speaking with boat and waterfront property owners, marinas and other water-based businesses to discuss marine-specific safety and security issues," Const. Batten said.

She will distribute a crime prevention kit at the expo.

"The marine crime prevention kit provides information about reducing marine crime, improving water safety and raising awareness of Operation Neptune, a dedicated marine crime reporting hotline ? 1800 658 784.
