Lucky Highway escape

THREE people were treated at hospital after a smash on the Pacific Highway south of Coffs Harbour yesterday.

Acting senior sergeant Talei Fenn said the two-car accident happened 200 metres north of the Cook Drive intersection at 10.40am.

She said a northbound white Ford Laser, driven by a Coffs Harbour man, 57, changed lanes but hit the rear of a red Ford Laser.

That car was driven by a Bellingen woman, 48.

Her rear seat passenger was a seven-year-old child.

All three suffered minor injuries and were taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus. They were later released.

Both northbound lanes were blocked for 25 minutes during the salvage operation.

The cars were towed from the scene.
