Look at him go . . .

By CRAIG McTEAR

AS he scans the room, Travers Ross has a huge smile on his face. The director of the Holiday Coast Hip Hop Intensive Festival is thrilled so many young people are pursuing their dreams.

The festival at the Coffs Harbour Showground is teaching hip hop enthusiasts the value of expressing themselves through their bodies, voices, artwork, music and dance.

Workshops and performances in breaking, hip hop, beatboxing, dj-ing and mc-ing are catering for people of all ages.

"Stamping Ground isn't happening at Bellingen this year, so I'm putting this on because heaps of kids would have missed out otherwise," Travers said.

"It's about bringing culture to Coffs Harbour, especially for kids in the holidays, so get down here and get into it, and learn about teamwork, rhythm and cool moves.

"There are so many little kids in Coffs who love this stuff."

The festival runs until next Monday. For more details, contact the festival line on 0423 206 855 or visit www.holidaycoasthiphop.com.
