Let's give buskers a big one

THE end of the 2007 Coffs Harbour International Buskers and Comedy Festival is sadly upon us but it's set to go out with a bang today at Sawtell.

In what promises to be a spectacular finale, the festivities begin in the city centre from 10am, before they move on for the big final show in the main street of Sawtell from 1pm.

Organiser John Logan is urging Coffs to get out there and give the buskers a send off they won't forget.

"The crowds have been fantastic this year. Now it's time to give the buskers a big farewell," he said.

There will be three stages in the main street of Sawtell.

"We have a continuous music and kids stage, which is at the southern end of the street," John said.

This will include blues music from band 49th Street, and Elvis.

"Then we have two buskers' stages one in the middle of the street, and one outside the Sawtell RSL. The acts on those two stages will run alternatively, so while one is performing the next is getting ready. This means continuous action." You'll be able to catch the action from the Wau Wau Sisters, Mario Queen of the Circus, ABS Crew, Lance Can Dance, Butch Read and Space Cowboy, among others.

The afternoon was originally going to wrap up at 4pm, but has been extended to 4.30pm to allow all the acts to give the crowds one last performance.

So give the buskers a reason to come back, and head to Sawtell for the fun and excitement of the big finale of the 2007 Coffs Harbour International Buskers and Comedy Festival.
