THE recent storms and ensuing high seas were not enough to stop Richard Buxton from his sailing trip around Australia to raise money for Alzheimer's research.

Due to reach Coffs Harbour today, Mr Buxton is spending two years circumnavigating Australia on his 12-metre yacht, to raise more than $500,000 for the Epsilon Research Fund.

"We've already raised in excess of $100,000, which exceeded our target for the first year," said Mr Buxton, who left Melbourne in early May.

Mr Buxton added that anything over the target raised for Alzheimer's will go to other medical research, including heart disease and cancer.

This will be the second major fundraiser for Mr Buxton, who recently circumnavigated Australia by light plane, photographing the coastline from the air.

He is stopping at every accessible port on the way, and photographing the coastline from the water to complete his photographic reference and history book, with proceeds to go towards medical research.

Mr Buxton is encouraging people to sail with him as he travels up the coast. To find out more or to make a donation visit www.epsilon.com.au or call 1300 764 146.
