Johannes headlines top class bowls field



SOUTH African international player and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Eric Johannes will skip a team from Warilla Bowling Club in the prestigious West Coffs fifth annual master triples lawn bowls event from June 30 to July 1.

Johannes has also featured in the ABC televised Tri-Nations bowls series.

Spectators will be treated to a high standard of bowls with local stars vying with state and national representatives for $11,100 in prize money.

West Coffs champion, Bill Davison, will team with Lou Magnabosco and Stan Russ to challenge the star-studded visiting line up as well as internationals players from as far afield as South Australia will be competing.

Brian Penny, Gary Mellor and Greg Giannikos will represent South Australian club Port Elliott. Former Australian singles Champion, Geoff Sutcliffe, will skip a team comprising players from from Shepparton, Tongala and Echuca while St.John's Park has also entered a strong team.

Sawtell players, Ian Weldon, Denis Scott and Anthony Clarke will make their presence felt over the three days.
