Jail likely for sex offender

A COFFS Coast man, 50, convicted of 16 sex offences is likely to go to jail, he was told in Coffs Harbour District Court yesterday.

The man pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated indecent assault where the victim was aged under 16; three counts of homosexual intercourse where the victim was aged between 10 and 18; eight counts of aggravated sexual assault when the victim was under the man's authority; and one count of attempted aggravated sexual assault where the victim was aged under 16.

Judge Phillip Bell told the man it would be an 'extraordinary result' for him not to be facing a jail sentence.

The man will be sentenced in the Coffs Harbour District Court on December 14 when a psychologist's report will be presented.

Judge Bell continued the man's bail to allow him to receive legal advice.

The offences, involving two victims, happened between 1994 and 2004.

The man's name cannot be published because of a court order prohibiting identification of the victims.
