ING Cup countdown
AS the countdown to Coffs Harbour's ING Cup game continues, the Coffs Coast Advocate will profile a number of the players from each side who will be participating.
Matthew Nicholson NSW Speedblitz Blues
A CONSISTENT performer who developed a knack of taking wickets to break threatening partnerships last season.
Took 43 wickets from ten Pura Cup matches at 20.25. Averaged a wicket every seven overs at under three runs per over.
His reputation as a match winner was underlined with a fighting 5 for 60 from 23 overs in the second innings of the Pura Cup final.
The lion-hearted effort got lost a little in the thrilling end to the match but wasn't forgotten by his team-mates or coaching staff.
Often defied injuries to bowl key spells for his team. Played for Australia in the 1998 Boxing Day Test against England at the MCG and would do a good job again if higher honours come his way.
A genuine competitor who is also a very handy late order batsman.
