Hope for a local to be Miss Indy

IN less than two weeks, Coffs Harbour's Lee Smidt, 23, will find herself on the verge of modelling greatness, when she will vie for the prestigious Miss Indy title.

A restaurant manager who enjoys keeping fit by working out at the gym and going to the beach, Lee won the Plantation Hotel heat last month, placing her in a field of 40 beautiful women from Australia and New Zealand.

For a hectic 10 days, Lee will become part of the famous Bartercard Miss Indy Race Team, performing grid duties at the start of the Lexmark Indy 300, meeting the drivers, making special appearances and attending VIP parties.

The title of 2006 Bartercard Miss Indy will be awarded on October 19 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, in front of an audience of more than 1000.

Just some of the prizes the winner will take home include a $10,000 Bartercard promotional contract, a Ralph Magazine feature shoot and Covershot Magazine shoot.

She will also feature on the cover of the Bartercard Miss Indy Calendar and will be flown to Mexico to compete for the title 'Face of Champ Car'.
