Heavy snowfall predicted for Woolgoolga
A TASTE of a northern hemisphere Christmas will come to Woolgoolga beach today ... well, sort of.
The annual Carols By The Sea event on the Woolgoolga Beach Reserve will this year be preceded by a highly unusual event, Snow On The Beach.
No, the weather bureau is not expecting an isolated but intense cold front to move through the seaside town.
The 'snow' will be provided by the New South Wales Fire Brigades who, at 4pm, will treat children to a winter wonderland by the water where they can try to build snowmen and have great fun.
More traditional Carols By The Sea entertainment will start at 4.30pm and run through until about 9.30pm.
There will be live entertainment and the chance to loosen your vocal chords with well-known carols, which will be led by members of the All Nations Church.
Food and drink will be on sale, as will all sorts of things that glow in the dark.
Entry to Carols By The Sea is free.
In the event of bad weather, the carols will be rescheduled to tomorrow afternoon.
