Have your say on education

IT'S a new year and perfect time to clear the air by having your say on what's important ? education.

Directors of the North Coast region's schools and TAFE colleges are urging everyone to have their say on public education and training by participating in the Department of Education and Training's Futures Project.

Regional director of schools, Ms Carol Carrigan, said with almost 109,000 students about to head off to schools and TAFE NSW across the North Coast, now was the time to have a say about the future of public education and training.

"Everyone wants to see every school and TAFE student excel. As part of The Futures Project we are committed to gathering input from people across the community on how to best ensure supportive learning environments, quality teaching, strong partnerships and job-readiness," Ms Carrigan said.

The Futures Project is the most extensive consultation undertaken by the Department and will help guide the direction of public schools and TAFE NSW for the next five to 10 years.

People in all parts of the North Coast can have their say by logging onto www.det.nsw.edu.au or call 1300 734 338 for more information.

Closing date for submissions to the Futures project is February 28.
