Harold?s on a high



AFTER the lows of having his car stolen and his house broken in to, 95-year-old Bellingen identity Harold Metson was on a high yesterday as he climbed aboard Terry and Joanna Walker's helicopter for a 15-minute turn around the valley.

The free ride came courtesy of the town's Neighbour Aid program, which chose to use some of its funding from the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care to give 20 of its clients a one-off memorable experience.

Coordinator, Jaki Lockyer, said when asked, her clients gave the helicopter ride idea the most enthusiastic thumbs up.

"This is an experience many of our clients may never have had before," Ms Lockyer said.

The Walker's (Coastal Helicopter Services) turquoise helicopter is becoming a common sight in the skies over Bellingen, involved as they are, in many community fundraising events.

Although not his first flight with Terry, Harold was still 'excited' before take-off and emerged from the cockpit with a huge smile having had 'a wonderful time'.
