Happy birthday bike path

THE Hogbin Drive Cycleway had a huge 21st birthday yesterday, with 150 people giving those calf muscles a workout to help celebrate. "It went really well. I was very pleased with the turnout," road safety officer Anne Shearer said. "People were really positive about it, and children had been really looking forward to it. "Some parents said their children had been talking about it all month." The day included both a 10 kilometre or a four kilometre ride along the Hogbin Drive Cycleway, then the party got underway at Coffs Harbour Education Campus. There, the riders and others who joined them shared a barbecue and cut the birthday cake before children's activities started. The family bicycle day was organised as part of NSW Bike Week by Coffs Harbour City Council and the Coffs Harbour Bicycle Users Group. The winners of the best-decorated bikes were Ryan Gilchrist and Michaela Hutchinson.
