A SOUTH Grafton man, 30, is nursing some broken bones this morning following a hang-gliding accident on a property west of Bowraville.
Macksville police said the man was at a friend's property at Argents Hill when he attempted a practice run in his motorised hang-glider at 3pm on Thursday.
However, a strong gust of wind lifted the craft from the ground. It travelled 100 metres before crashing into a large ironbark tree and then plummeted 30m to the ground.
The man suffered a broken leg and possible neck and back injuries.
A Westpac Lifesaver rescue helicopter was commandeered from Tamworth and landed on the property 45 minutes later. The man was stabilised before he was transferred to the Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
