Girls in State squad
TWO promising Sawtell BMX riders have been included in a three-day State training camp which will finalise the NSW team for the Australian championships.
Keiarra Carpenter (16 years girls) and Jacinta Rice (13 years girls) will take part in the march past although whether they ride at the championships will depend on whether they make the cut for the final 10-member team.
The training camp to be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport starting on Friday will focus on physical development, nutrition and skills sessions at the Terry Hills track in Sydney with State coaching director Troy Fisher.
Fisher selected the squad of 25 based on consistency and commitment shown by the State's most talented riders and results at State and Australian titles.
Keiarra Carpenter could be one of the young riders identified for a Beijing Olympic Games elite training squad after BMX was included for 2008 as a new sport.
- Three Sawtell riders, Jake Rice, Jacinta Rice and Morgan Peen will travel to the ACT later this month for their championships.
