Girls are up for kinky night ? boots and all

THE annual opportunity for a fun Girls' Night Out in the Nambucca Valley has evolved into something more for Olivia Noble and her friends.

It has become a challenge to raise $10,000 for the NSW Cancer Council.

"Last year our night out coincided with the Cancer Council's Girls Night In, which raises funds for breast cancer, and that got us thinking," Ms Noble said. "So many women here in the Nambucca Valley have had brushes with cancer.

"Close friends or family members ? we all know someone. So we decided we'd like to help do something."

What the women have done is organise a series of fundraising events around the local community, leading up to a big charity auction in October.

This Saturday, the second event on their fundraising calendar, is a movie night at the Bowraville Theatre.

The movie is Kinky Boots, a British comedy from the makers of Calendar Girls, about two outcast dreamers who finally learn to stand up for themselves?in thigh-high leather stilettos!

Bowraville 'queen of organising things', Dorothy Evans was invited to join the enthusiastic team as a mentor.

"I've helped organise so many things but never anything as big as this challenge," she said. "I just keep reminding them to get their posters and press releases organised."
