Generosity stitches up exhibition

By KUE DAVIS

FASHION designer Kaidee Peel will now be able to exhibit at the 2008 Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, thanks to the generosity of some Coffs Coast locals.

Kaidee was inundated with calls from people wishing to support her following an article in Wednesday's Coffs Coast Advocate, which asked for sponsors to help her attend 'Emerge @ the Source' at the 2008 Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in Sydney.

The initiative, which sees 25 of Australia's emerging designers hand-picked to exhibit their debut collections, was to cost her $3500 plus GST (not including flights, accomodation and manufacturng expenses) a price that was not within her reach.

But now, thanks to the support from local business, Kaidee has enough money to make her dream a reality.

"The first call came about 8.30am, I was only just reading the paper myself," she said.

"Then people called all through the day. By the afternoon I had enough sponsorship to go."

"I was so surprised I didn't expect that response."

Kaidee has attended a similar exhibition before, but it was not as exclusive and had hundreds of places.

"This is probably the biggest opportunity I've had," she said.

Kaidee would like to thank all herwonderful sponsors and local stores Evolve Clothing in Coffs and Vertigo Blue in Woolgoolga, who stock her clothes.

She now says she'll be working hard to add to her new collection and get everything ready.
