Flying high after win
CHRIS Davis and Bill Leleu have dedicated their lives to keeping Telstra Child Flight in the air so it can save kids' lives.
The Toormina couple began fundraising six years ago after one of their friends used the important service.
"It saved her baby," Chris said.
"We've got two children and five grandchildren of our own, so it's dear to our hearts. It's something we enjoy doing.
"Child Flight is a lifeline for country kids and it's a very vital service we need to keep in the air to keep our kids alive."
The pair drove to last month's Tamworth Country Music Festival where they helped the fundraising effort in a big and colourful way.
They built a float ? which carried children who had been retrieved by Child Flight and posters depicting their heartwarming stories ? for the January 21 cavalcade.
So impressive was the effort that the float won the out of town category and was runner-up in the non-commercial category.
