Family fun day to help kids with cancer

Children with cancer, like those pictured above enjoying a Camp Quality outing, will benefit from Red Rock's inaugural Irene Scott Memorial Fundraiser Fun Day tomorrow, which is designed to be fun for all the family. Carnival rides, snow cones, fairy floss, jumping castles, a merry-go-round, a sausage sizzle, lawn bowls, bistro meals ? there'll be fun for everyone at the Red Rock Bowling and Recreation Club, which is hosting the day. Lawn bowls will begin at 9.30am and activities will run all day. The tiny coastal village with the big heart is pulling out all stops for tomorrow's fun day, which is named for the late Irene Scott, who operated the Halfway Creek truckstop for more than 20 years with her husband Wayne. Mrs Scott, who lost her battle with cancer shortly before Christmas, was loved by children. Fun Day organiser Helen McAuliffe, the secretary-manager of the Red Rock Bowling Club, said "Irene Scott was the most beautiful and popu- lar person and all the children loved her."
