Face of the Carnival is a winner

THERE is no bet more sure than where you will find Shelley Williams each year on the first Thursday of August.

The 25-year-old Coffs Harbour beauty has never missed a Coffs Cup Day, and this year will be no exception - but with one major difference.

Much more than just a spectator, Shelley is the 2007 Coffs Coast Advocate Face of the Carnival.

Revealed last night at the launch of the Carnival and City Centre Fashion Extravaganza, Shelley is now counting down the days until the Carlton Draught 2007 Coffs Harbour Gold Cup Carnival begins.

"I'm so excited. I love the races and even when I lived away I always came home for the Coffs Cup," Shelley said.

The judges would have been hard pressed to find someone more qualified to grace all the promotional material for the carnival than Shelley, who recently moved back to Coffs Harbour after six years in Sydney.

Together with her mum Pam, Shelley owns fashion store Nik and She.

"I'm the 'She'," Shelley said.

"Cup day is always a great excuse to get dressed up. And this year I will get to wear three different outfits as I will be attending the three race meetings held during the carnival."

Shelley is also hoping this is the year her luck changes.

"I haven't backed that many winners in the past, but hopefully this year will be different."
