Elderly man is bashed, robbed on creek walk

AN elderly man was bashed and robbed on the Coffs Creek Walk yesterday.

It is the second attack in a week on the popular walkway.

The Coffs Harbour 75-year-old was walking near the Olympic Pool at 12.40pm yesterday when three male youths came up behind him.

They clobbered him over the head with an unknown object, grabbed his wallet ? which contained cash ? and fled.

The man, who fell to the ground, was treated at the Coffs Medical Centre in nearby Gordon Street.

He required seven stitches to a head wound.

A police patrol of the area failed to find his attackers.

If you saw the incident, or if you have any other information, you are urged to contact Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299.

Police do not believe at this stage the assault is related to one last Friday on the Coffs Creek mangrove boardwalk near the Pet Porpoise Pool at 12.05pm, when a 25-year-old man was punched and robbed.
