Drums thunder out

WHO would have thought old wine casks covered with cow skins could sound so amazing?

Ashembe's drummers coax music from Japan, Africa, Egypt, and the Middle East from their huge handmade taiko nagado drums, cow bells, shimedaiko and darabooka.

The Ashembe troupe will be holding a drumming workshop at Monday's Orara Valley Fair - bring your own drum and join in some drum drama.

The fair will also see spectacular displays from scimitar-wielding dancers and fire twirlers.
