Dog?s day out for truckie

A SOUTH Australian truckie had a narrow escape in an accident on the Pacific Highway at Coffs Harbour early yesterday.

The 36-year-old man was driving his B-double, laden with pet food, south on the highway about 50 metres north of the Diggers Beach Road intersection when the rear trailer tipped onto its side at 1.10am.

The driver was not injured.

Traffic was diverted around the accident scene while Roads and Traffic Authority and Coffs Harbour City Council crews cleaned up at the site.

They had to remove goods from the trailer so that it could eventually be righted.

The southbound lanes were closed mid-morning during the salvage operation.

Police are continuing their inquiries into the cause of the accident.
