Council on the job

SPARE a thought for the Coffs Harbour City Council work crews who are run off their feet in the wet weather.

They're out and about fixing problem areas caused by the constant rain.

"This past weekend has been a bit of a climax to the wet weather we've had for the past six weeks," the council's executive manager of operations, Allan Hindmarsh, said.

"We've had water going over the roads in a lot of areas. The creeks are flowing full and there's a lot of debris on bridges, which will have to be cleared off once the water recedes.

"We've attended to a few minor landslips, most notably on Bruxner Park Road and Coramba Road, and the RTA had that serious one on the highway.

"There's been some minor flooding in the urban areas and water in backyards, and there were problems at Split Solitary Caravan Park."
