Cops are cruisin
SHE'S shiny and brand new and comes with a $1.8 million pricetag
Meet Fearless, the latest addition to the Coffs Harbour water police fleet. The 16-metre ocean-going police launch will help officers in their search-and-rescue missions, and in tackling maritime crime.
You can expect to see this impressive vessel in operation on waterways anywhere between Tweed Heads in the north and Laurieton in the south, and up to 200 nautical miles out to sea.
Fearless is fitted with twin Caterpillar 660 horsepower diesel engines, and can cruise comfortably at 25 knots. She's capable of reaching a top speed of 28 knots, and has a fuel capacity of 4000 litres.
The impressive array of state-of-the-art electronics equipment includes night vision, specialist imaging for search and rescue, and heat sensors.
The vessel is even equipped with a three-metre inflatable boat, four sleeping berths and a full galley.
Fearless is an improved version of Victor, the police launch she now replaces. She dwarfs the other members of the fleet, the seven-metre Dominator and the 5.8 metre rigid hull inflatable which can be towed on a trailer.
