Coles ready to party...

THIS morning at 8am Coles Moonee Beach will open its doors to the public, but more than 100 members of staff, their families and invited guests enjoyed a pre-opening ceremony yesterday afternoon.

The Federal member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, and State member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser, were among the guests invited to the early opening event, hosted by store manager Samantha Williams, who is herself a Moonee Beach 'local'.

Northern Beaches personalities Joginder Kaur Arkan and Peter Loxley joined forces to snip the ribbon, cut the cake and unveil the plaque to mark the opening of the new store, located in the new Moonee Beach shopping centre, on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Moonee Beach Road. Mr Loxley is a long-time Moonee resident and Mrs Arkan is a long-time resident of Woolgoolga.

Store manager Samantha Williams, who has worked for Coles for 10 years, said Coles had invested more than $2 million in the store and created 110 positions, with five management trainee roles in place at the store.

Coles Moonee, which has 25,000 product lines and parking for 276 cars, also has sections for Indian, Asian and health specialty foods.

It is expected to be popular with Northern Beaches shoppers as it will save them trips to Coffs Harbour for groceries.
