Coffs Harbour?s gymnasts shine



AFTER a busy end to the competition season Coffs gymnasts have shone once again in various competitions.

The Coffs Harbour Artistic Gymnastics team who train at the Link Indoor Leisure have had a busy and successful end to their competition season.

At the North Coast regional championships in Port Macquarie in August, out of 11 divisions Coffs Harbour came home with nine gymnasts named regional champions.

Level 1A Jnr - Georgia Nash Level.

Level 1A Snr - Monique Orme.

Level 1C Jnr - Clare Brauer Level.

Level 1C Snr - Kate Harding.

Level 2B Jnr - Jacqui Bird.

Level 2B Snr - Taylah Harding.

Level 3B Snr - Taylor Meagher.

Level 3 Boys - Brad Smith.

Level 4 Jnr - Cody Oliveira.

Level 4 Snr - Krissi Devlin.

Gold Coast team challenge

In September the team travelled to Miami on the Gold coast to compete in the Gold Coast Team Challenge.

At this event Coffs Harbour Gymnastics won overall champion novice club bringing home the following awards:

n A second place overall for the Level 1 novice team - Billie Shone, April Orme, Rebecca Hyland, Nicola Long.

n A third place overall for the level 1 novice team B - Georgina Weaver, Symantha Simson, Kate Harding, Drew Dowling.

n A third place overall for the level 1 competitive team - Tayla Clark, Monique Orme, Keely Tollis, Georgia Nash, Katherine Ryan.

n A third place overall for the level 2 novice team - Taylah Harding, Katherine French.

n A first place overall for the level 3 novice team - Montana Kennedy, Melissa Hely, Taylor Meagher, Allannah Watson, Meredith Weaver.

n A ninth place overall for the level 4 competitive team - Cody Oliveira, Krissi Devlin, Alannah Robey. Georgia Nash also won highest scorer for her level receiving a 9.65 on the beam.

Country Championships in Newcastle

In October the team travelled to Newcastle for the NSW Country Championships which is a state competition for clubs in regional areas of NSW.

At the championships the Level 1 B Team placed 6th overall consisting of Emma Campbell, Nicola Long, Katherine Ryan, Meera Attril, with Katherine Ryan receiving a 1st place on vault, Nicola Long a 3rd place on beam and Emma and Meera tying for fourth place on bars.

The level 1A team placed seventh overall consisting of Monique Orme, Keely Tollis, Tayla Clark, Georgia Nash.

The level 2B team placed sixth overall consisting of Tahlia Hinton, Jacqui Bird, Taylah Harding, Abbey Agostinelli, with Tahlia Hinton receiving a third place on vault, and Taylah a second on vault, third on bars, first on floor and a third overall.

The level 3 B team placed third overall comprising of Melissa Hely, Taylor Meagher, Montana Kennedy, Heather Love, with Melissa Hely receiving a third place on bars.

The level 4 team placed 10th overall comprising of Cody Oliveira, Krissi Devlin, Alannah Robey and Elinor Irvine, with Cody receiving a third on floor.

NSW State Championships

In the last competition for the year the level four team of Cody Oliviera, Krissi Devlin, Alannah Robey and Elinor Irvine travelled to Sydney to represent Coffs Harbour and the North Coast in the NSW State Championships where they competed with 207 gymnasts in their level.

Cody Oliveira finished up in fifth place on floor which is a fantastic effort.

They should all be congratulated as they competed beautifully.

The girls are now busy working towards their goals for 2006.

All the coaches are very proud of the Coffs Harbour team and are looking forward to another exciting year next year.
