Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishing Club news

YET, another good week of fishing ? it was a bit on the windy side but that didn't seem to worry anyone.

The water temp is still up there with live bait easy to get and the surface fish are loving just about everyone of them on a hook.

Everyone who fished the comp had their drags fairly swinging with barred mackerel and yellowfin tuna keeping them very busy.

We had a good turn out with 10 boats fishing the comp and just about everyone got good catches.

Results for the comp were: champion boat, Hoodlum, 155pts; runner up, No Fear, 142.5; heaviest species, barred mackerel, Andrew Bidhowil, 19.7kg, r/up Jim Hughes, 19.12kg; snapper, D Wilson 2.7kg, r/up Sue Fitzpatrick 410g; kingfish P Trotman 9.4kg, r/up Tom Fitzpatrick 3.735kg; amberjack Steve 2.1kg, r/up J Parker 1.623kg; pearl perch Paul Parker .705kg, r/up Maree Parker .635kg.

Champion female: Sue Fitzpatrick 64pts, r/up Maree Parker 58pts; mystery fish was a wrasse which wasn't caught, so the jackpot now stands at $60 for next comp. Safety ticket J Parker.

Hutcho managed to catch himself a jewfish of 11.74kg, too bad it wasn't one of the species on the day maybe next time, mate!

I hope that everyone enjoyed the day out as it was a huge success.

We did overlook one of the species on the day being flathead and we apologise for the error. ? BIGGO
