Coffs digs deep

Robert Mill was over the moon at Coffs Harbour's generosity yesterday.

This year's Red Cross Door Knock Appeal brought in about $23,000 worth of donations, which was the highest amount the volunteer collection centre coordinator had seen in his nine years volunteering for the appeal.

"It's been a superb day. It's the best we've done since I started," Mr Mill said.

"It was a tremendous effort by the collectors and a fantastic response from the Coffs Harbour community."

More than 300 volunteers took to the streets at the weekend to knock on doors in an effort to raise much-needed money for the Red Cross.

"Three areas came over the $800 mark, it's just outstanding," Mr Mill said.
