City Hill?s growing dump yard

CAR thieves are causing headaches for emergency services in Coffs Harbour.

They stole a blue Holden station wagon from Castle Street, near Vernon Street, some time between 7.25pm and 10pm on Monday and drove it to City Hill, police said.

They jacked it up and stole the rear wheels before setting it on fire.

Coffs Harbour firefighters were called to the scene at 10.44pm and discovered the vehicle engulfed in flames, along with surrounding scrub.

Nine personnel and two fire trucks were required at the scene for at least 30 minutes.

The car had been dumped near another vehicle which was stolen and torched a few weeks ago, sparking a similar blaze.

If you know anything about these incidents, you are urged to contact Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299.

If you see a fire, you are reminded to contact the 000 emergency line and ask for the fire brigade.
