Child?s tragic death in pool

POOLSIDE fun has turned to tragedy in Coffs Harbour.

A two-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, was discovered floating in a pool at the side of a house in William Sharpe Drive about 4pm on Sunday.

The toddler's distressed mother pulled him out of the water and attempts were made to revive him.

Ambulance officers took the youngster to Coffs Harbour Health Campus, where he was later pronounced dead.

Senior Constable John Mauger said 10 other children and four adults were in the area at the time.

He said the pool complied with all safety regulations.

Investigators are now preparing a report for the coroner.

There were no suspicious circumstances, Const. Mauger said.
