Cheyenne wins title hat-trick

THE Coffs Harbour martial sports team from Combined Self Defence and Fitness has picked up a hat trick of firsts from the National all styles (NAS) North Coast championships.

NAS is a martial arts tournament which consists of different arts and disciplines.

Competing in Port Macquarie against the best in the region, Cheyenne Hoffman walked off with the title of female black belt NAS champion picking up a three titles along the way.

She placed first in forms, point sparring and continuous sparring.

"Along with myself, our entire team did well," Cheyenne said.

"Jody Whitley placed first in forms and was my opponent in both sparring categories.

"She pushed me right to the limit."

In the men's division, Ian Farmer was eliminated in the first round of point sparring but took out his frustration in continuous sparring to place third.

After his elimination from point sparring, Farmer channelled his determination and frustration into his continuous sparring and gained a top placing against more experienced fighters.

Hoffman said the team will stick together for the state titles in Sydney later this month.
