California girl falls in love with Bucky

CAITLYN Botello could not have been a happier girl this week when her wish was granted at Coffs Harbour's Pet Porpoise Pool.

The 11-year-old from Chino, in California, spent about an hour on Thursday swimming with the dolphins, thanks to the support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Caitlyn had a brain tumour removed last year and her wish was to swim with dolphins ? a dream only offered in Coffs Harbour.

"She's as fit as a fiddle. She's really well," the foundation's Coffs Harbour branch president, Laurie Jackson, said.

Caitlyn arrived in Coffs Harbour on Wednesday with her mother, Lynel, her father, Amado, and her brother, Jacob.

They plan to visit the Big Banana and go horseriding during their stay here, and they will spend four days sightseeing in Sydney before returning home.

The visit was arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in California, with Coffs Harbour the host branch.

The foundation grants wishes to children aged up to 18 who have a life-threatening illness. Locally, there are 12 active members.
