Buskers ready for a great street party

GUITAR cases and hats will soon litter the streets of Coffs Harbour, with the annual Buskers Festival just eight weeks away.

Actors, mimes, comedians, dancers, jugglers, fire twirlers, and purveyors of silliness in general will roam the city, setting up temporary theatres and delighting audiences wherever they go.

Organiser John Logan is particularly thrilled with the 2007 line-up, with two big names from the United States: grand master of theatrical comedy and circo lunacy Mario Queen Of The Circus; and New York's most outrageous duo, the naughty and degiant musicians/acrobats, the Wau Wau Sisters.

Other acts include Patrick 'The Swindler' McCullagh from Ireland, aerial madmen Project Bounce from Canada and dancing Lance Spring from Amsterdam.

They will perform alongside home-grown acts such as Tommy 'Elvis' Memphis and Great Scott for nine days of fun in the city, with all the usual extras including the preview dinner and night shows at pubs and clubs.

"I don't know about you, but I can't wait," John said.
