Bucca invaded by a battalion of Jeeps



THERE wasn't a Volvo driver to be seen at Settles Road, Central Bucca, over the Easter long weekend.

They dared not venture out in their 'metro mummy movers' being no match for the battalion of Jeep enthusiasts who were gathered with an expo of original offroad vehicles ready to enjoy some daring down-and-dirty driving.

When not behind the wheel, traversing some of the Coffs Coast's most challenging off-road trails, Jeepers checked out the line-up of up to 110 different makes and models and met other obsessive-compulsive 'Jeepified' minds.

Organised by Jeep Action Magazine, which is produced and published locally, the rally was open to subscribers and attracted owners from as far afield as Perth and New Zealand.

First designed for military use, the first civilian Jeep was produced in 1945 and marketed as a work vehicle for farmers and construction workers . . . the rest, as they say, is history.
