Bronze whaler shark hanging at Diggers Beach

TRAVIS Mead and his surfing mates have spotted an unwelcome visitor hanging around at Diggers Beach.

Travis, 25, was on his board about 50 metres offshore on Saturday at 7pm when his friend said he'd just seen a shark, which was brown or bronze in colour.

"We all think it could have been a bronze whaler," Travis said.

"Then I saw a fin five minutes later, about 20m away. That's when we came in."

Travis was with his dad, brother and two mates at Diggers on Sunday at 5pm when a shark was again seen.

"It was definitely brown and was at least six or seven feet (up to two metres) long," he said.

"My mate was down there (yesterday morning) and people were pointing at something.

"There's a fair bit of bait fish around at the moment."
