Black? highway corner fixed

GOOD news for Pacific Highway travellers.

The new road realignment of Wrights Corner, north of Macksville, is completed and open to traffic. State Government funds of $3 million were committed to the upgrade to improve the safety of this notorious corner.

NSW Parliamentary secretary for roads, Tony Stewart, said the improved alignment would help eliminate crashes.

"There have been a number of fatalities at the site in the past ? this realignment will help prevent any more," Mr Stewart said.

"The road has also been widened to allow a median wire rope safety barrier to be installed."

Other work carried out includes earthworks, road resurfacing and the installation of new signage. Final line-marking is due for completion soon.

"Once finished, the improvements will provide motorists with a safer section of road with better sight distance and a smoother surface," Mr Stewart said.
