BDC gets top marks

IN A List dominated by Sydneybased high schools, Bishop Druitt College has again made the top 200 school list in the 2006 HSC results.

BDC was the only Coffs Coast school to make the cut.

BDC principal Roger Oates said he was 'delighted' at again making the top 200 list.

"Every year we have sat the HSC we have been in the top 200 list so it is a wonderful achievement," Mr Oates said.

"While at this time of year the achievements of the top students are celebrated, I would also like to say how proud I am of all the kids who worked really hard and achieved really well.

"They may not have received band six results, but they worked hard and achieved results they can all be proud of."

Mr Oates said while it was nice being in the top 200 list, it was a one dimensional measure.

"We are happy to be there but its only based on the band six results," Mr Oates said.

"And when you look at the list, you see a lot of elite private schools and selective public schools. For us, we are more concerned about the breadth and depth of our results."
