THERE doesn't seem to be any rest between the sporting seasons anymore.
No sooner do winter sports end and suddenly the summer activities begin.
Little Athletics have already been ensuring that they keep hold of their members for this summer as well as trying to recruit new kids to the sport.
The Glenreagh Little A's have made their bid for registrations recently by having a development officer visit schools in the area.
Alvin Umadhay is actually a state coach but loves getting out and promoting athletics to the students.
"The best thing about athletics is that it forms the basis for all sport," he said when visiting Nana Glen Primary.
"You need an athletic base to play any sport and Little A's is easy.
"You only need to be able to run, jump or throw to do it, you can even walk."
Umadhay emphasised the point that it might be nice to have a future Olympian in your club but the program is more about encouraging the athletes to have fun and give 100 per cent.
"The basic motto of Little Athletics is 'Family, Fun and Fitness' but it could easily be 'Have a Go'," he explained.
"Everything is modified and it encourages people to get out there and give their best.
"If you're going to have a go you might as well give your best to try your best."
For any parents or children who are interested in becoming a part of a local Little A's club they can call 1800 451 295 or logon to www.littleathletics. com.au.
