Amelie?s in France
BERNADETTE Divola, a new language teacher at Bishop Druitt College, will be spending her Christmas holidays in France after being awarded a fellowship from the Department of Education and Training.
This fellowship is part of the Endeavour Program (delivered by the Asia Education Foundation) and is designed to assist French teachers to improve their language skills and experience French culture first-hand.
The trip involves a language component to be undertaken at The Cavilam language school in Vichy, situated in the Auvergne region in the centre of France.
There will also be cultural experiences, school visits and many opportunities to make new friends and form links between schools, countries and communities.
Ms Divola will leave Coffs Harbour on New Years Day and return three weeks later.
She has developed a new French program to be introduced next year at Bishop Druitt College that involves an enigmatic character named Amelie Araignee.
Amelie will be making appearances at school, on the internet and in the wider Coffs Harbour community.
This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for the Languages faculty and the students of Bishop Druitt College.
Ms Divola would like to thank her school community for their support as well as the Endeavour Language Teacher Fellowship program for this ex- citing opportunity.
