Alison proves a hit with the young?uns

IF you're looking for that piece of help that could turn a junior into perhaps the next Hewitt, Federer of Sharopova then the coaching staff at Westside Tennis Club could be the place to start.

As most know, Allan Pade is a certified Advanced Tennis Coach with the TCA while Alison Airs is doing great work with the younger kids at the club.

Airs herself has plenty of experience to call upon when passing on her knowledge to her students having coached in the United States where she is a well known USPTA Professional coach after a four year stint of coaching at New Mexico College, giving her plenty to offer.

"The kids will get good tennis coaching and also correct tennis coaching which is important," Airs said.

"There are coaches out there that aren't qualified and while that's not necessarily bad they don't know what to look for.

"Part of my training was in stroke analysis and I can see a player right over the other side of the courts and tell what they're doing wrong, someone who's not trained might not be able to see that."

Moving to Coffs Harbour nearly four years ago might be considered by some to be a step down from the college circuit but Airs finds coaching here a pleasant experience.

"In America it's pretty full on with over the top parents, it's certainly much nicer here."

Airs is mainly trying to concentrate on coaching the smaller players now but tennis players of all ages are welcome to use the services of either Airs or Pade at Westside.
