Advocate backing the coast chopper
THE Coffs Coast is about to get its own rescue helicopter and the Coffs Coast Advocate is on board after signing a $100,000 sponsorship deal this week.
The deal, part of the $1 million annual sponsorship spend by the newspaper, has been a major factor in the purchase of a new Westpac Lifesaver chopper.
On Wednesday, the Advocate's general manager, Richard Reynolds, signed the deal with Rescue Helicopter services GM Perry Wells.
"Our commitment to the Coffs Coast region is celebrating its centenary in 2007, and this is a wonderful opportunity to continue our support through the great efforts of the Westpac Lifesaver helicopter," said Mr Reynolds.
The new helicopter will be based in Coffs as soon a green light is given from the Department of Health.
"It has been a memorable week for us," said Mr Wells.
"We have forged an outstanding new relationship with the Coffs Coast Advocate and enhanced our service with the acquisition of a more technically advanced helicopter."
