A world of fashionawaits TAFE students

GRADUATING students of the Fashion Design Course North Coast Institute of TAFE this week exhibited their designs which one day may be seen modelled in the world' fashion pages.

After completing the course, a number of successful students are starting their own labels with the hope of one day expanding into the international arena.

Nicole Naylor from In The Nik fashions said the course had been a great learning curve in the development of the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the fashion industry.

Violet Miklos 'Sia Bella' is currently selling through Brown Sugar Boutique in Moonee Street, Coffs Harbour, and is hoping to expand into many boutiques Australia wide.

Johanne Kristensen 'Johanne Kristensen Designs' likes to promote herself as a textile artist and to work with natural fibres and beads.

Sandra Rowe 'Cockatoo Creek' concentrates her collections for the larger figure. Her label is available throughout Australia and she has exhibited at both Sydney and Melbourne Fashion Weeks.

Annastasia Ryan said she was ready to launch her own street wear fashion label. Moving towards that goal, in collaboration with Casey Anthony they have designed a collection made from recycled denim and tyre tubing.

Other students are intending to undertake further study in Fashion Design, Graphic Arts and In- terior Design.
