Anzac Day crowds braved the rain

IT WAS an honour to attend and take part in this year's Anzac Day services.

Congratulations to our local schools and RSL sub-branches for the excellent organisation of this year's ceremonies, despite the wet conditions.

With the fortunate combination of Easter and Anzac Day, I hope all residents of Division 1 managed to take a good break as we move further into another jam-packed year for our region.

National Walk Safely to School Day

I ENCOURAGE all schools in Division 1 to participate in the National Walk Safely to School Day 2019 on Friday, May 17. We all know that active kids are healthy kids, so leave the car at home on that day and walk, scoot or skate to school. Great prizes are up for grabs. To register, visit the Sunshine Coast Council's website.

What's happening in Division 1

BY NOW, you should have received my twice-yearly Division 1 newsletter. The latest edition contains useful information to help keep you up to date about projects happening in our division and in our region. If you haven't received your newsletter, visit the council's website under "Councillor Newsletters”.

Monthly meet-and-greet

LAST month's session at Glass House Mountains was well-attended and I met a number of residents with topics to discuss such as pathways, streetlighting, parking, speed limits and current development applications. As I rotate around the Division 1 localities, the next session is planned for Thursday, May 30, at the Beerwah Library meeting room from 9.30-11.30am. These sessions are designed as an informal opportunity to drop by, say hello and chat about all things local government. As always, you can contact me at any time via email at division1@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or call 5420 8987.
