Another string in Keith's bow thanks to prestigious new role
COFFS Harbour councillor and former mayor Keith Rhoades is going to be kept busy now that he has another prestigious role to fill.
As well as being the president of the Local Government Association of NSW (LGA), on Thursday Cr Rhoades was elected as the new vice-president of the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) at its AGM in Hobart.
Cr Rhoades said he was looking forward to the new role, which he acknowledged would be both challenging and rewarding, providing him with an opportunity to work more closely on issues that affect councils nationally.
"This is an enormous responsibility at a time when local government issues are of critical importance at the federal level," Cr Rhoades said.
"I look forward to working with my fellow executive members to represent local government throughout Australia as we continue to push for better Federal Government funding for our local roads and infrastructure and greater recognition of the important role that local government has to play."
He aidd that having someone from Coffs Harbour voted in as vice-president can only be a positive for the local community.
"It's about being in the loop and about being in contact with politicians and government," Cr Rhoades said.
